What You Need to Know About Your Nissan Key Fob

Smart Keys
The key fob included with the Nissan is a key component of the advanced keyless entry system. It connects to the vehicle's electronic system to open doors or start the engine, and has a practical design that's easy to keep on hand. Key fobs also come with convenience features such as locking out protection that ensures you don't leave the vehicle with keys inside.
As opposed to earlier models of key fobs, that required you to put the key in the ignition slot to access the onboard systems in your vehicle, smart keys function wirelessly. Nissan detects when you approach your vehicle and activates the Intelligent Key's internal functions. This can include opening or locking the doors, raising and lowering the tailgate, or even starting the engine.
Certain smart key models come with a hidden metal key to be used for valet parking. Intelligent Key Fob have a built-in antenna which transmits signals when you come close to your vehicle or press one of its buttons. When your vehicle receives this signal it activates the system, opening doors or locking them, starting the engine, and then opening the trunk. If you want to test the fob, stand a distance away from your vehicle, and then press the buttons. If the lights flash or the horn sounds sound, you have successfully programmed the Intelligent Key Fob.

To do this, remove the key hidden in the lock and open the battery compartment on your key fob. Remove the old battery, then insert a new one in its place. Make sure that the positive side of the new battery is facing the same direction as the original one did. Remote Start
Nissan remote start permits drivers to cool or heat their vehicles from outside as long as they are within the operating range.
