Smart Keys

The key fob included with the Nissan is a key component of the advanced keyless entry system. Nissan detects when you approach your vehicle and activates the Intelligent Key's internal functions. This can include opening or locking the doors, raising and lowering the tailgate, or even starting the engine.

Certain smart key models come with a hidden metal key to be used for valet parking. The key can be removed from a release found on the back of Smart Key fobs to lock the trunk or glovebox prior to giving it to a valet. The Smart Key fob has a charging pocket that can be used to charge the battery when it is not in use.

If your Nissan's Intelligent Key fob isn't working as it should, you'll need to replace its batteries. Most fobs have CR2025 or CR2032 batteries, and instructions on how to replace the batteries are available in your owner's manual.

Many serious accidents have occurred due to a machine being started when it was supposed to be completely shut off to repair or maintenance. These accidents are often the result of stored energy that was not properly released. Lock-out-tag-out (LOTO), which ensures that machines are off until an authorized person releases them, helps to prevent these kinds of accidents.

The LOTO system is comprised of a variety of locks, tags and other devices that isolate, secure or isolate a machine from electricity. All "affected" and "authorized" personnel must be trained in the use of these lockout/tag-out devices. These devices include but are not restricted to chains, locks padslocks, wedges adapter pins and self-locking fasteners. Each device is singularly identified and labeled, with the date and the time of application and the name of the authorized individual, and the reason behind the lockout/tag-out (repair or maintenance, for example). It must be clearly stated that these devices are not to be removed until the LOTO procedure is complete.
